Teaching with UN(RE)SOLVED from FRONTLINE: Pre-NCSS Conference Free Webinar; Tues., October 19th at 7pm EST
In advance of our featured session, Shining a Light on a Dark Past: FRONTLINE’S UN(RE)SOLVED at the virtual 101st NCSS Annual Conference, please join us for an introduction to the multi-platform project, UN(RE)SOLVED that examines the stories of lives cut short and the federal effort to investigate more than 150 cold cases that date back to the civil rights era under the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act. We will preview the web interactive and the associated curricula materials developed and available on PBS LearningMedia.

Erika Howard, FRONTLINE Impact Producer will provide background on this project that encourages students to confront America’s legacy of racist killings and understand the reasons justice has proved elusive for decades. Alysha Butler, Senior Manager, Inclusive Social Studies Curriculum, will showcase a wealth of associated classroom materials, including a student activator activity, a student background reading and timeline activity, and a graphic organizer to guide students through their work in the interactive. Alysha also will provide tips on integrating these untold stories into your instruction. Whether you have two hours or two weeks to address our nation’s legacy of racism and the long road to justice, you will leave this webinar with ideas and resources to engage your students.

There will be ample time for collaboration and Q&A. The webinar will be recorded.
